What is a pending authorization?

Recent credit card transactions may show as pending. A pending transaction also occurs when the following happens:

• At times, merchants may apply a “holding” transaction or “pre-authorization” on your AvantCard. This is common in hotels or gas stations and when customers receive goods or services before the final payment is requested. Upon completion of these sales, the authorizations will disappear and the customer’s balance will be adjusted. While the transaction is in pending status and before it posts to the account, it will not accrue interest.
